THE ANNUAL PARISH MEETING 2009
Held on the 7th April some thirty parishioners attended the Annual Parish Meeting and heard Jeff Beer JP present a very interesting insight into the role of the lay magistrate. Other short reports were given by our District and County Councillors as well as our Beat Manager Pc Steve Mutton. The annual report of the Parish Council was given by the chairman which together with the minutes will shortly be available on the parish web site. After the formal part of the meeting many stayed on for informal discussion over refreshments. Although attendance was slightly down it was encouraging to note that there was wide representation of the parish including people from Torcross, Beesands, Beeson, Start, Kellaton, Chillington and Stokenham.

NEW PARISH COUNCILLOR

At the council meeting on the 19th February Mr. Charles Rogers was co-opted onto the Parish Council. Charlie who comes from four generations of Rogers in Beeson was educated in Huckham and Kingsbridge before leaving the area to work overseas as an engineer . Returning after 15 years he settled down with his wife Lynda to raise his family and establish a small building business. Charlie is following in the footsteps of his father who was a councillor and chairman for many years before standing down in 2007. Like his father before him he will bring considerable local knowledge and experience to the deliberations of council.
