STOKENHAM PARISH PLAN UPDATE

Our Parish Plan circa 2004 needs refreshing with new ideas and suggestions for making further progress towards achieving our vision. Let your council have your thoughts on what you think the parish lacks, what could be improved or in deed what we may not need any more. Leave comments on this post or fill in the questionnaire that accompnied the Christmas Newsletter. Thank you.
Chairman Stokenham Parish Council.

STOKENHAM PARISH OBTAIN RE-ACCREDITATION AS QUALITY COUNCIL

Stokenham Parish Council (which includes the areas of Stokenham, Chillington, Torcross, Beesands, Beeson, North and South Hallsands, Kellaton, Frittiscombe, Dunstone and Kernborough) was one of the first Parish Councils in England to be awarded Quality Council Status in 2004, a quality mark ensuring a standard of performance. Needing to now satisfy ten tests of competence Stokenham Parish Council have re-applied meeting the new criteria and been awarded re-accreditation for a further four years.

One section of the tests is to have a council website preferably including a blog providing a forum for parishioner participation which Stokenham Parish Council hope people will visit and use. Other requirements of Quality Status include the publication of all agendas and minutes of meetings as well as four regular newsletters. The Stokenham Parish Website and blog may be accessed at www.stokenham-pc.go.uk (you must register to use the blog) and hopefully Stokenham residents will have seen the newsletters, the summer and Christmas editions being hand delivered either by your District Councillor John Baverstock or willing helpers.

This quality mark gives other partners such as County and District council the assurance that Stokenham Parish Council is a professional body meeting such requirements and is no doubt one reason why Stokenham have been chosen to host a pilot project to bring the day to day management of services closer to the people.

Stokenham Parish Council welcomes everyone to their meetings and hopes that parishioners will take an interest in their community, visit the blog, read the newsletters and support the efforts to make the best of their area.
